Celebrating Heritage in Our Schools

The Great Heritge Poster Challenge

The Nova scotia Historic Places Initiative held a poster contest in April 2008, challenging grade three students throughout HRM to draw a historic place in their community and tell us why it was important to them. The entire grade 3 class at Bedford South Elementary entered the challenge and every single entry was terrific. Among the most popular entries, was the Moirs Ltd. Power House and the Old Bedford Fire Station.

To show our appreciation and to recognize the students' interest in local heritage, the NSHPI office organized a tour of the Nova Scotia Legislature. The students were awarded certificates of appreciation for their interest in heritage and for participating in the Great Heritage Poster Challenge.
